40th Anniversary Celebrations

img_0900img_0903img_0911

Over 150 people gathered at Swinburne University on 11 November to celebrate Camcare’s 40th Anniversary.

At the party following the AGM we were entertained by EmCee Brian Nankervis, cabaret sensations Ginger & Tonic and students from Swinburne’s ‘National Institute of Circus Arts’; everyone had a ball and tackled the silent auction with gusto.

Mountains of thanks to staff and students from Swinburne’s Events Management  course (and especially Vice Chancellor, Professor Linda Kristjanson) and to the numerous local traders who generously donated goods and services in support of the event.

Now with a new Board, it’s off into Camcare’s 41st year and our future.

Rotary’s Mr Phil Mortimer, Chairman of Garden DesignFest, recently announced the preliminary results of the event:

“On behalf of Rotary, I am both pleased and proud to announce that Garden DesignFest 2016 attracted over 17,000 individual garden visits over the two weekends of the event. Every dollar received at the gardens will go to our many Rotary charities and 3 children related charities nominated for the 2016 event. More than $130,000 was raised from the 2016 event, which brings the total raised to over $500,000 since we commenced Garden DesignFest in 2004; all going to charity”.

Camcare thanks all our volunteers in particular who gave up their weekend to achieve this amazing result!

Garden Designfest 2016 – Update

Garden Design Fest 2016This year the event will be on the weekend of 12 and 13 November.

A number of the gardens to be opened as part of Garden Designfest next month have recently been featured on television gardening programmes, more are scheduled to be shown over the next few weeks.

Garden Gurus (Channel 9) featured two Garden Designfest gardens:

Gardening Australia (ABC TV) has filmed the Stephen Read garden at 2 Euston St. Malvern and the segment is scheduled to be screened on Saturday 29 October and repeated on Sunday 30 October.  John Patrick will interview Stephen Read.

This garden also featured in the August edition of ABC Gardening Australia magazine.

Better Homes and Gardens (Channel 7) has filmed 4 gardens:

  • Rick Eckersley ,at Musk Creek Cottage, Flinders
