Emergency Relief

Fresh Fruit and vegCamcare is a distributor of Federal Government funded Emergency Relief (ER) for people who are on low incomes residing in Boroondara.

Emergency Relief can be in the form of:

  • Food parcels
  • Toiletries
  • Bread (delivered on Tuesday and Friday)
  •  ‘Market style’ fresh food distribution every Thursday from midday
  • Travel cards
  • Telephone cards

Camcare can also assess eligibility for grants  for education costs, utility bills, essential items of health equipment, removal costs and other high priority expenses which may be difficult to meet when an individual or family are reliant on a pension or Centrelink benefit.

People can attend one of Camcare’s offices and are assessed by trained volunteers as to their needs and the best response to meet these.  They often obtain some assistance on the spot.

Camcare also works in partnership with other local agencies to offer a Community BBQ on the last Thursday of every month (12-2pm) for Emergency Relief clients. They can participate in the preparation of the communal meal and enjoy social contact with each other. Also, a range of professionals are on hand to provide information and informal support.  Upcoming dates :

  • 25 May 2017
  • 29 June 2017
  • 27 July 2017
  • 31 August 2017
  • 28 September 2017
  • 26 October 2017
