Boroondara Residents Generously Support Camcare

Once again, Camcare has been one of the major beneficiaries of the “HOPE FOR BOROONDARA AND BEYOND” initiative organised by St Hilary’s Church in Kew. This year, due to COVID-19 five churches organised tables outside nine supermarkets in Boroondara where Saturday shoppers were asked to fill a bag whilst they were doing their own shopping. The response from the public was tremendous and during the week commencing 10 May, Camcare received about 1200 large shopping bags filled with donations, conservatively valued in excess of $45, 000.

The logistics of receiving, sorting and stacking the contents of the bags is always formidable. Students from Presbyterian Ladies College and Trinity Grammar School, helped by Camcare regular volunteers and staff, efficiently undertook this task.

Food from the drive is now being distributed to people facing socio- economic disadvantage or who’s employment has been impacted by COVID-19.

Thank you to everyone involved in supporting this important food collection.
