Free Teenage Counselling

Children, teenagers, and young people may face a range of challenges on their path to adulthood, from problems with their studies to family stresses and a feeling of social isolation.

As you come to grips with your body and try to find your feet in this world, you may be confronted with exam pressure, bullying, physical health problems, or low self-esteem.

Sometimes, you might just feel down, anxious, stressed, and upset without really knowing why.

We all go through tough times every now and then, but if you are having more bad days than good, there are people you can talk to and steps you can take to understand and manage your feelings.

Camcare’s free youth and teenage counselling offers resources, support, information and services for young people. We strive to help you approach and manage your feelings, your health, the adversity you face, and the process of reaching adulthood and independence.

What people say

Youth Counselling at Camcare

If you are feeling stressed, anxious, angry, upset, or generally down, you are not alone. According to Beyond Blue, three quarters (75%) of all mental health issues develop before the age of 25.

A range of support options are available to you, including reaching out to family, friends, and other loved ones, as well as talking to a health professional such as your local doctor or a counsellor.

At Camcare, our youth and teenage counselling is respectful of your experiences and compassionate and understanding in our efforts to help you.

Our qualified Case Managers and professional counsellors can help you develop coping strategies for experiences such as study and exam stress, family conflict, bullying, discrimination, or social isolation.

Camcare has funding to offer free, individual youth counselling. To ensure safety, comfort, and ease of access to our youth wellbeing services, our professional staff can come to you in community settings such as the 360 Youth Resource Centre in Hawthorn. We also offer youth wellbeing counselling at our offices in Camberwell.

School Counselling Services Through Camcare

Children and teenagers may face a range of issues at school, and it is normal to feel stressed or upset from time to time.

As well as study and exam stresses, young people may also experience bullying in the schoolyard, cyberbullying away from school, as well as discrimination and a general feeling of being isolated. This is often coupled with anxiety around identity, body image, self-esteem, and your health and wellbeing in general.

Camcare’s youth counselling can help you explore school, university, and study-related issues in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. These sessions can also address any other social, physical or personal issues, whether they are related to your schooling or not.

Camcare has also worked in local schools in the City of Boroondara area and is capable of assisting schools and families in a range of capacities in the support of young people.

Anger Management Counselling for Young People

Feelings of anger, anxiety and distress can be a very common experience for teenagers and young people, and these behaviours often indicate that a young person is hurting.

If typical teenage behaviours of occasional arguing, moodiness and defiance escalate into violence, persistent changes in personality, or ongoing sadness, anxiety or sleeplessness, it may be time to reach out for support.

As part of our counselling services, Camcare can offer support, resources and further referrals to manage feelings of anger and distress. In some cases, Camcare can also provide Integrated Family Services where we come into the home and offer intensive support and case management.
