Free Grief Counselling

At Camcare, we offer free grief counselling, resources, and support to help you deal with bereavement, change, a painful personal history, or stage of life challenges. Our compassionate, caring team will listen, respect, provide resources, offer referrals, and help you in developing a recovery plan.

Grief is one of the most universal experiences that you can go through in life. People experience grief as a common and natural response to loss, whether they have lost a loved one, a pregnancy, a job, or something or someone else. Grief can manifest at the end of a relationship, when your children leave home, and when you experience a change in the way you live your life. The loss or change you experience could be sudden and traumatic, it could be foreseeable and expected, or it may have occurred many years ago.

If you feel that you would like to talk to someone, or that you need to talk to someone, do not hesitate to reach out to those around you. This includes your family, your friends, your community, and the community at Camcare. We aid and advise both individuals and families, primarily those living in the City of Boroondara.

Understanding Grief and Loss: When to Pursue Professional Counselling?

There is no “right way” to grieve, and equally, your grief may manifest in many different ways. How long you grieve, the way your grief is expressed, and the parts of your life it affects will differ from person to person.

Your experience of grief may affect your beliefs, your work life, your physical health, and even your sense of personal identity. You may notice changes in your thoughts or behaviours, as well as ongoing feelings of sadness, anger or shock, as well as numbness, isolation, and even relief. Other people will appear to be resilient and may not show or feel obvious signs of grief at all.

Each of these experiences is valid. You are allowed to grieve in your own way, but equally, you should never be afraid to reach out to those around you for support, for a helping hand to lighten your load, or just for someone to talk to.

Knowing when to reach out to a professional, or to encourage someone you love to reach out, can be a difficult step in itself. If thoughts and feelings associated with grief continue to persist in your daily life, and if they begin to affect your life, your work, and or your relationships, it may be time to reach out. Equally, if you simply feel that you want or need to talk to someone else about your experiences of grief, counselling may be useful to you.

The compassionate, understanding Case Workers at Camcare can offer you information and materials, as well as advocacy services, community support, and referrals to professional psychologists and counsellors.

Grief and Trauma Counselling

Trauma and grief can be closely related, with experiences of grief often containing trauma, and traumatic experiences leading to grief.

Whether you are struggling with a loss or a traumatic life experience, grief and trauma counselling may be able to assist you. For care, compassion, support, resources, and referrals to support you through experiences of grief and trauma, reach out to Camcare today.
